The Federal Aviation Administration has plans to close dozens of local approach radars in Texas, including at Abilene Regional. Instead of having our its own radars, the airport would use controllers from DFW.
Dozens? I’m not sure that there are a dozen small/medium up-down facilities in Texas, but it’ll be interesting to see how this develops.
